Pico Drawing Workshop
28 July 2023
Designing Liquid Ecosystems with @cboughedir @essafi.Mehdi in collaboration with artist residence @bochra.taboubi
Pico Drawing was an interdisciplinary workshop led by Anzar, a collective exploring aquascaping practices, and Bochra Taboubi, artist in residence at Mouhit at the time. Participants gathered natural elements from Mouhit's garden—leaves, snail shells, branches ect—and transformed them into delicate drawings on transparent paper.
"Throughout the activity, we encouraged the participants to take their time analyzing their surroundings and selecting dead branches and stones from the garden that they would use to create their own miniature aquarium.
Once they had chosen the various components for their aquarium, they were invited to arrange them in their jars. After completing this composition, with the assistance of Bochra, they sketched their ecosystem on tracing paper, bringing their imagined specimen to life, giving shape to their universe.
Once the drawings and their aquariums were fully realized, we placed these aquariums on a source of light and projected the different designs created by the participants, resulting in a single thought-provoking installation that fostered discussion between reality and imagination, mobility and stillness, visibility and invisibility. It all came together as a collective installation."
